Hello. I hope someone can help me. My GameCube isn’t outputting any video or audio.
Background: I did the Picoboot mod a couple of months ago and it all worked fine. It was booting games from an SD card and I could also play discs. Then I started getting a prompt to set the time and date when I turned it on. I figured the battery had died after 20+ years of service. Like many others I decided to put in a battery holder rather than just put in another tabbed battery. But I didn’t test it, I put the GameCube away for a few weeks.
I get it out today and plug it in and there’s no video or audio. It turns on, the power LED shines, the Pico LED comes on, the fan spins up, but nothing else. Discs don’t seem to be spinning either.
I’ve checked the RGB cable, it works fine on my RGB modded N64, so it’s not that. I got my multi-meter on the power supply, that’s fine. I’ve opened it up and checked all my soldering. I can’t see any bridges or shorts. I’ve reflowed the solder points on the AV connector and I’ve cleaned the AV connector with isopropyl alcohol.
It’s still not working though. I’m at a loss with it now. Has anyone got any ideas as to what the issue could be? Or how I might fix it? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

16:15 - contemplate going for a run, settle for browsing social media and eating hobnobs in bed
18:00 - my fiancé arrives home from her day out with her parents and makes me dinnebreakfast. My proximity to being 30 leaves me pining for an omeprazole
19:45 - arrive at work to find my consultant holding the bleep - the day on call is currently away at tertiary towers with a sick head. The bleep goes off - it's a cannula call. My consultant suggests their registrar has a go first - she's still got it
20:00 - handovenight ward round - the unit is relatively stable, and put to bed by 20:30. The nurse in charge informs me one of the longer stay trache weans is starting to rev up a bit, nipped in the bud with some NG olanzapine. My consultant tells me to give her a ring about anything and makes her exit
20:45 - it's the med reg, he's had a go at that cannula and not managed. I advise they speak to the theatre trainee on call (as there's nothing booked), but play coy and pretend I don't know how busy they are
21:00 - a patient spikes a fever of 38.5. They're already on IV domestos but I decide to do some cultures anyway to ease my boredom. We've waterboarded them over the last week so they're boggy enough I need the USS to extract any blood
21:30 - nightly meeting of the arrest/[email protected] team. I make my cursory appearance to suggest maybe I do the airway, and the med reg informs me he's not aware of any sickies on the ward
22:00 - day 1st on returns from tertiary towers. We make a bit of small talk and then I remember she's been at work for over 14 hours and I'm keeping her from bed
23:00 - I go to drink my coffee and realise I've left the grounds on the side at home. I raid the Nespresso machine in the theatre coffee room as a compromise whilst wondering if a checklist would have prevented this error
23:30 - pre alert from A and E - OOHCA. Patient is relatively young but the downtime is long. He's making some respiratory effort but not doing anything else. Needs a tube. The obs reg and theatre trainee are both free so come to give me a hand. Ring the boss to let her know we've got an admission
00:00 - new patient's family are here. They're very nice and understandably distraught. I explain the prognostication process to them, I doubt they've taken any of what I said in. I take a moment to remember that life is short and unfair sometimes
01:00 - sit down for my lunch when the nurse in charge fast walks down the corridor telling me the delirious trache wean patient has managed to pull their trache out. The stoma is well matured and he's making good respiratory effort so I manage to negotiate the stoma relatively easy and recannulate him
01:30 - sit down for my lunch when my bleep goes off - my presence is urgently required on labour ward. I'm not signed off for obs so begin to catastrophise about what could have happened to the obs reg. I run up the five flights of stairs as my bleep doesn't have the lift override key. The reg has just finished a cat 2 when they've called a proper cat 1 and needs another pair of hands whilst the theatre trainee is gassing for a hip relocation. I draw up some RSI drugs, prepare some airway equipment etc. whilst he attempts a quick spinal with the ODP. The spinal goes in fine and baby cries soon after. Mum and dad happy, smiles all round. I take a moment to remember sometimes our job is pretty great
02:00 - sit down for my lunch, third time's the charm. I once again pine for omeprazole
02:30 - I try to do some revision (learning) for the Primary but realise there's no way on God's Earth I will accomplish anything meaningful regarding the pharmacology of inhalational agents at this time
03:30 - I decide to chance a quick nap. I wake up every 15 minutes stressed that I've missed a bleep despite wedging it into my ear on max volume
05:30 - med reg - there's a moribund 85 year old nursing home resident with dementia who's aspirated on the ward and has a pO2 of 8 on 15L. The entire right side of their chest is whited out on the CXR. I suggest they're dying, but they would like an ICU review as there's no escalation plan and it's an acute deterioration. I bite my tongue and attend the ward
06:00 - brief review of the patient reveals they are indeed dying. I run it past the boss who agrees they aren't an ICU candidate. Med reg asks me to speak to the family as they've been told the ICU doctors will have a look at her by a well meaning F1. I take the F1 with me and explain what's happening - the family are thankfully very sensible. The F1 says thank you for the teaching opportunity but I wonder if she just thinks I'm a total knob for dragging her along for 20 minutes when she's close to finishing night 3/3
07:00 - check back in on trache wean patient. He's tucked up in bed and flat as anything - seems the olanzapine has kicked in
07:15 - another patient has pulled their NGT out. I take a cursory glance at their meds and decide it's very much a day team problem
07:50 - I spend the last 10 minutes of the shift updating the list and failing miserably to print it two sided. I decide it's the computer's fault
08:15 - handover is done and I practically skip out of the hospital knowing I'm not back tonight

Now that I have the proper diagnosis, I'm looking back at my life and ALL the signs were there. Nobody I knew was educated enough on mental illness to realize something was wrong, and obviously that isn't their fault, but it would've saved me a lot of trouble if they'd known. A lot about me and my life makes sense now though too.
Reflecting on the time I got put on prozac, I really thought I was fine. I thought I was depressed. I had gotten out of an abusive relationship and I had all the symptoms of depression. When I got on prozac, I didn't have those symptoms as bad anymore, so I thought "Hey, it's working." When I got diagnosed bipolar, I thought "Nah, I didn't get fully manic. Maybe it just didn't have the same effect on me."
Um... But yeah, I was hella manic. I quit school on a whim, quit my job, made my poor girlfriend at the time miserable with my anger and irritability. I broke up and got back together with her 3-4 times. I've never been the type to do that. I fucked up and we ended up breaking up for good near the end of this episode. I opened up and maxed out 4 credit cards even though we didn't have the money for the payments. I said things I cringe at now without even thinking about it. I talked people's ears off. I was so impulsive. I ran most of the people in my life off by "telling it like it is." I was obviously just being an asshole, but didn't even realize how I was sounding. I had hypersexuality for sure. I nearly got fired from the new job for being so irritable. I was like this for a full year until the prescription ran out.
It lasted that long because I was in a weird situation. I was in college 8 hours away from any family. I'd been living with 3 of my friends, but they had all graduated and moved away right before. My girlfriend was long distance at first, and the relationship was only a couple months old when we moved in together, so she had no idea what I was like before getting on prozac. Nobody around me knew me before the prozac, so I didn't have anyone to say "Hey, that's not right, maybe see a doctor about that."
When it finally ran out, I remember just laying in my (new) girlfriend's bed thinking how I felt like I could relax for the first time in a long time. I thought it was because I'd finally gotten out of my bumpy last relationship (which I now realize was my fault), and was not in school and at a different job that wasn't so hostile. I thought it was all circumstantial. I realize now that it was because I wasn't fucking manic anymore. My brain could finally relax for the first time in a year.
Just weird now, at 28, to look back at my life and think how different it could've been if I'd just known what I know now.

I'm a 30 yo F in GA, USA. Never done recreational drugs, no current meds. The only diagnosis I have now is generalized anxiety.
I want to try to find records from when I was about 11/12-15/16 years old. Please let me know if this is the correct place to start. I know that it has been 12 years since I've turned 18 and these records have possibly (likely) been destroyed.
I'm not necessarily looking for notes from the psychiatrist, but the doctors name and when I was a patient there.
We'll start with my mother is abusive. I was seen as "uncontrollable" as a child, meaning I did not keep up with/accept/submit to her minute by minute changing needs.
Tl/dr: My mom had me go to multiple psychiatrists and I was on several drugs with multi diagnoses. I eventually "rebelled" against taking meds, left when I was 18, and have few memories of my life when I was on meds. I mostly just want to know what the heck happened. I want a timeline. It's all so blurry. But I have no way of asking her for that information and I don't know how I'd go about getting it. I think there's a part of me that wants to see it on paper so I have physical evidence of it and begin working through all that I have either repressed or fill in the gaps for what I don't have memory of. It may be a lost cause that I just have to work through without it. I'd also like to know what medications I was taking.
When I was in 6th or 7th grade she had me go see a therapist, as I was deeply depressed. I was telling my therapist how my mom treats me in the best way that I could for my age. My therapist said my mom would not sit in on any meeting until I was ready. She broke this trust when she decided we all needed to have a chat. I was so angry that I refused to speak and went out to the car. My mom stayed behind and apparently the therapist told her a lot of what I had been telling her, which my mom immediately confronted me on when we got in the car. The therapist had to have told her some things because she wouldn't have known some of it otherwise.
I never went back to that therapist. The next few years my mom had me go to different psychiatrists. I don't remember how many, I remember being put on different drugs for depression, BP, insomnia, and possibly other things. I remember having to take 3-5 pills a day. My mom would sit in with me during these appointments.
When I got to the 10th grade I refused to take meds anymore. I always felt horrible. The meds made me shake, I was cloudy all of the time. I also had people in my life that started asking questions about how my mom treats me and my brother. I started seeing that so much this was made up to keep me drugged, in my opinion.
Fast forward to when I'm 30. Approx 15 years later. I believe the BP diagnosis is incorrect, as I've had no symptoms of it since then. Depression and insomnia faded once I left the house at 18. I also started seeing a therapist a few years ago that I've worked through a lot of this with.

I'm a recruiter for a clinical research company. I search for people on LinkedIn and make calls all day. Most of them being cold calls where I leave a voicemail. The guy who started the company still believes the best way to reach people is to repeatedly call someone and leave voicemails for them, so that's what we do. He even sits in the recruiting "pit" with us, which he thinks shows transparency from the outside, but we all know that this is a control thing. Regardless I obtain the best results connecting on LinkedIn, and setting up a call.
But I digress, despite talking the company up about how we're so great and an awesome place to work, I'm in the office 5 days a week 9 -5. This job can 100% be done remotely, and I've brought up working remotely to the team a handful of times, but my colleagues have made it clear that it'll never happen with the boss's mentality. I've only been here 6 months so I don't have much clout. Idk, I'm not a fan of this place and I'm getting further certified so I can get back into IT.
Anyway the boss wants us to make 40 calls a day minimum, and that's what I've been shooting for 40 - 45 calls a day. So today, both bosses are out. Me and the other newer guy will have 40 calls made by 2pm today, and then are planning on leaving by 3. Problem is, there is concern that the boss will think "you made 40 calls by 2? Then make 50 by 3, and 60 calls by 4". The boss prescribes to the work harder, NOT smarter train of thought and has said he expects us to stay after 5 or work during our lunches as we need to "hustle and have grit." I only make 40k, no commissions. He started the company 10 years ago, so of course he stays late and works harder than is healthy. But this isn't my business - I'm simply an employee. How would you handle this situation?
Because in my mind, if this truly was the best place to work then they would approach things like "you need to make x number of calls per week, speak to x number of people per week, and when we need someone you need to have them ready. We don't care where, when, or how you get in touch with people, just that you get it done."
Any comments welcome - if nothing else thanks for letting me vent here

- Can an employer legally deny an online application based on a person’s last name (race/ethnicity)?
- So I work in a ramen shop in a mall. My manager is from Japan, and many times he’ll ask me or my coworkers to look at Indeed applications and ask what we think the applicant’s last name is in terms of ethnicity. Depending on our answer, he will choose not to proceed with an interview based on that alone. Is this legal? I’ve only really found answers based on actual hiring, which I understood to be during or after the interviewing process, so I wanted to know if it applies during application review as well. He also brags to me and my coworkers if he hires someone and they don’t show up that it’s okay because they’re (insert ethnicity here).
- Several times he’s done interviews with people who don’t speak much English (he’s not fluent himself btw) and based on that decides not to hire them. Is this also legal? I told him we’ve hired people in the past who didn’t speak English at all and it was fine, but he doesn’t listen.

So I've been meaning to get into Bukowski forever, I mean he's the quintessential CA "genius writer" type every CA writer seems to accidentally imitate.
Then I started my own "career" (or whatever it is) at the post office and learned ol' Bukowski worked at one for years and even wrote his first novel about it.
So I bought it and read it in like two days and enjoyed it a lot. I mean, there's a lot about the character of Chinaski I don't really like, but it's written in such an engaging way that I got hooked and was along for wherever the ride took me.
I don't know how much of me enjoyed this book, because the post office is still exactly like it was back when Bukowski worked it. If anything, it's even more absurd now, we just have GPS to make our lives "easier."
The book was definitely enjoyable, but I'm still leaning more towards the Bukowski is a little overrated side of things. Like, he's no Hemmingway, not by a long shot, but I definitely prefer him to like that Updike fellow.
I'll have to read more of his stuff though. Hopefully I haven't pissed off all the Bukowski fans here too.

and anyways, im getting ready to DM my first hopefully long term campaign. im super pumped for it!!! its going to be very very homebrew (shhh i know thats usually not a good way to go, but its more fun for me and my crew). iv been making maps and a bunch of DIY DM tools.
I even went and bought some metal weighted metal dice to be my "DM" dice.
sorry for rambling, but yeah, per the title, any tips for a new-ish DM?

2023.03.20 17:16 CreepyOlGuy As a plus user, 25 msg cap is ridiculous.
I swear this was their money scheme all along. I cant get any productivity out of GPT4, and heck its clear that the v3 went to heck lately. The responces to me are almost worthless. 4 is where im at but i cant even get use out of it while being a plus member. I'm either dealing with a msg cap or dealing with some connectivity issue.
