Assumptions:
  • Barnes is willing to sign with Atlanta.
  • Kuzma is willing to sign with the Kings.
  • Atlanta willing to remove all protections from first rounder in the Huerter deal.
Why the Wizards do it?
  • Kickstart their rebuild with 2026 first from the Kings and 2 seconds from Atlanta.
  • Move off of Monte Morris's bad contract.
  • Take on a reclamation project in John Collins who could redeem value like Al Horford or Chris Paul did in OKC and be spun for a positive asset in the future. He is also 2 years younger than Kuzma and is still a useful rotational player.
Why the Hawks do it?
  • Move under luxury tax by $8 million.
  • Get solid, rotational "shooting big man" they have been seeking (see link) and almost previously traded for in HB. Also good veteran presence to help out new coach Quin Snyder. Barnes also gets slightly overpaid but his worth it for a team like Atlanta. Link: Lakers, Raptors, Heat could make moves at NBA trade deadline (usatoday.com)
  • Trade 2 seconds to make up for Collins contract. (Collins probably worth half that contract so 2 seconds is in line with a team eating 12.5 million over 3 years.) He was nearly traded for Jae Crowder near the trade deadline so he clearly doesn't hold too much value right now in the trade market.
Why the Kings do it?
  • Get a wing upgrade in Kyle Kuzma who fits the team's core age arc at 27 for HB and a conditional 2026 first which is similar to the rumored John Collins trade 2 years ago. NBA Podcaster Nate Duncan projects a $23-24 million contract for Kuzma while Spotrac's Keith Smith projected $18-20 million around midseason. Kings do a slight overpay for $25 million/year to get their guy.
  • Get a 3rd PG in Monte Morris who only has 1 year left on his deal. Could use him or flip him to another team if desired.
  • Don't trade any of their core or their 2023 #24 first while removing the Huerter trade first round protections to trade 2026 first round.
Give your thoughts on why you think the teams would do this or not in the comments below.

2023.06.08 00:28 NlilNJA Trade idea: Jordan Poole for DeAndre Ayton

Trade idea: Jordan Poole for DeAndre Ayton
With the Suns waiving CP3, they will probably look for a new starting point guard. The Warriors can use a center like Ayton.
Salaries somewhat match, looks possible but need to include some other players/picks in there. The core idea surrounding this trade is Poole for Ayton.
Thoughts?

Facilitating a Dame Trade to Miami
If Dame is looking to make his way to Miami, here’s how we can facilitate a trade using our cap space to address team needs.
  1. Rockets get vets and #3 for an assumed Scoot Henderson slide.
  2. Heat get Dame Lillard.
  3. Blazers get 8 firsts (2023 #4), some young prospects, and $35 million in cap space.
https://fanspo.com/nba/s/rockets/trades/TkBtWPN-2zleHQ/dame-to-miami-using-houston-part-2
You could move some contracts around if Portland wants players (Herro/Martin) instead of cap space.

2023.06.06 22:15 pop_smurf Think the Hawks would say no to this sadly. What do you guys think - maybe throw in a SRP? I see a few of our players in the trending for trades - MFFLs are going crazy with these machine simulations!

Blazers keep Scoot/Miller and upgrade roster
Blazers have not had a locker room presence like draymond to hold players accountable for their defense and effort. His energy will be huge for the blazers.
Blazers use the suns mavs trade to absorb nurk’s contract to create cap space for draymond.
DFS will be an excellent backup off the bench for portland. And claxton of course will be a great starting center for the blazers.
The mavs pick up ayton. The suns get a serviceable center for cheaper and get an expiring for their expensive roster. They can keep the #10 for cheaper help or use it in a trade for a role player.
Not sure if the nets do this. Maybe blazers can throw in more draft capital. But Anfernee is pretty young and has star potential. Would be a good pairing for the future with mikal.

2023.06.06 16:49 NashCarter Putting together some rumours.

Putting together some rumours.
For the Knicks. Leon Rose does what he set out to do. Sell high on Brunson. Hope Thibs brings the best out of Ayton. Ultimately the current Knick squad may have hit their ceiling. A solid team with no hopes to contend. For the Celtics. Keeping Brown locks the Celtics in with no optionality. Brown looked bad against the heat, on the hand Brunson did against the heat what you hoped Brown would. Celtics now have flexibility but also stick with Tatums timeline. Picks come as well due to Browns value around the league with teams like Atlanta also interested. For the Suns. Suns are in a unique position to completely reset another franchise & create depth around their two stars. Essentially this is two trades. Ayton an underwhelming top pick who they had to pay because that’s how it goes for Barrett - the knicks version of the same thing. Plus he is the godson of Suns legend - Steve Nash. It’s CP3 team friendly contract for Randle & Robinson who don’t hold much value to a rebuild team. For that Phoenix get Grimes and a pick. The pick allows Phoenix to trade a 24 first pick for a late first round pick (Hornets or Indy) For the Blazers. You cant serve two masters. Blazers have a choice to make. 15 years of Scoot or 3 of Dame. It might hurt but better to do it now then wait for Dame to ask out and burn his connection with the fan base. Blazers take no long term contracts back, difficult to do when sending out 45 million. CP3 can mentor Scoot for year 1. Blazers could move up from 23 to 10 by sending the Mavs protection back to them. Allowing the Mavs to trade #23 w/ 25 & 27 pick.

Throwing my hat in the mock trade ring let me know what you think💯
The nets supposedly have interest in Ant, and if they are the most firm about not giving up Mikal, Claxton is a close second in terms of desirability especially with his contract. They would get Poetl to step in and replace Claxton and get a promising young guard on a good contract.
The raptors get #3 which they supposedly covet, without giving up Siakam, who they can flip for additional assets. The question is whether they think 3 is valuable enough to give up both OG and Poetl as well as their own lottery pick.
I gave us #13 as well because I felt like if we aren’t getting a star, getting some draft compensation back in return gives us some more flexibility to acquire some more veteran help or even to just take a swing at 13 and hopefully get someone we can look to develop slowly.
At first glance Claxton would make Nurkic who would now be by far the highest paid center in the league redundant but as we all know Nurk is good for missing 20-30 games so the depth is actually great.
We use #23 to get a win-now player a La Kris Murray and flip a couple seconds to Chicago to free up our future picks and we are in business.
Starting V: PG: Dame SG: Ant SF: OG PF: Grant C: Claxton
  1. Nurk
  2. Thybulle
  3. Reddish
  4. Watford
  5. Nassir
  6. Winslow
  7. Keon
Ideally we would pick up a veteran PG on the minimum.
