Shitty Dark Souls is a community that celebrates the awesomeness, and often shittiness of the game Dark Souls, as well as the rest of the 'Souls' universe. Whereas /DarkSouls is a community around Dark Souls that is more discussion oriented in nature, /ShittyDarkSouls is about playful, and charming comics that mock and/or poke fun at the Dark Souls universe.

Dis is Yharnam, disease in the streets and monsters below our feets. This is not a game for filthy casuls, only for MLG Soul veterans.

2023.06.05 17:58 e_0 /r/ShittyDarkSouls will be shutting down
Now that I have your attention.
The following subreddits will be going dark for a couple of days starting on June 12th.
Why:
Reddit is planning on implementing a policy change that plans to effectively kill all third-party apps that rely on Reddit's API because they're morons. This is currently free to access, but Reddit soon plans on charging an exorbitant amount of money for it (
Apollo's developer, for example, crunched some numbers and came to a cost of 1.7
MILLION dollars a month, USD). They're doing this simply because they're
dumbasses constantly pushing to make more and more money, as you've probably seen with ads, pay-gated features, awards, and more over the years. Forcing everyone to the Official Reddit app, which is a direct downgrade from most of the third-party applications listed below, only furthers that greed so they can push ads down our throats even more.
Even if you DON'T use a third-party app to access Reddit, such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Narwhal, or BaconReader (God I hate some of these names) - these changes can and will affect you. Mods everywhere use Reddit's API in order to better tailor their communities - such as the Souls Subs planning on utilizing it to apply your trophy flairs in a more time-effective fashion so you won't have to all wait as long for us to apply them manually across all of the Subreddits. You know, because we're all lazy fucks.
In addition to this, as
Toptomcat said in a post:
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
We encourage you to avoid using Reddit as much as possible during the blackout (June 12th to June 14th) to send a message. The only thing companies will listen to is money. Fewer users, less money, stronger message. Go look at some Soulsborne R34 instead
... and let's face it, we could all use a bit of time to
touch Sellen's toes play some more Soulsborne.
