As the title says….
My parents divorced when I was 12 due to my father having an affair. The two remained in separate homes for a couple of months until their divorce finalised and my father moved back to the states with my now stepmother. The first time I visited him out there I remember feeling very angry and I resented my father a LOT, here he was living the perfect suburban American dream with his new girlfriend and replacement step daughter, whilst my mother cried herself to sleep nearly every day….it sucked!
My fathers and I relationship strained dramatically he was the one to travel to me alone, even those visits were often awkward and tense. As I grew up it became easier ignore the resentment because I saw my father less and often ignored his calls and messages. A few weeks ago my mother and uncle died in a car accident they were my only family, my father came back to be with me for the funerals then a few days after he sat me down & explained that with no other family, I had to move with him to the states. My mother had stated in her will that the house should be sold (it was kinda old) to fund whatever future I desire. I’ve been here for a week now most of my time is spent alone with my uncles dog, with resentment I’ve held down all these years is bubbling up.
I overheard my father vent to my stepmother (SM) about, how regretful he was about the start of their relationship, how he hated how strained we became & how he wished my mother encouraged me more in my to maintain a relationship with him. I busted in after hearing that screaming that everything he was complaining about was his fault along with SM, after a few insults I ended it by wishing he was the one in the car & not my mother & uncle, (I know a shitty move but I was literally blinded by my rage), by then he was in tears as SM held him protectively but the two remained silent allowing my word vomit to spill out. I then stormed off to my room.
I talked to my friend from back home, she knows about the entire situation. She was supportive of me until I told her about the recent incident, she said he was allowed to vent without me screaming at him, that the resentment I feel towards him isn’t healthy (I know) & will always result in me being the AH to him.
Mini update:
After spending the entire day yesterday asleep and the night wide awake, I called my grandparents (my fathers parents) early this morning. The conversation started a little awkward on my part, just like my father I had ignored many of their messages and calls over the years, yet they never gave up on me, always sending gifts for every holiday/birthday, sending hand written letters, even sending congratulatory presents for every milestone or achievement I’ve ever had, they did more as grandparents than my father ever did as a dad.
My grandmother understood my awkwardness but kept encouraging me at every turn. I explained the entire situation to her, how my anger is seemingly effecting my fathers family and how I don’t want to be here as I feel like I’m not truly dealing with my grief and my attention is focused on the anger I have for my father. Surprisingly, she understood completely and agreed with me, apparently she had even suggested to my father that I stay with them instead, but he was adamant on rebuilding our relationship. Which angered me that little more, at my time of grief here he was thinking of it as a way to benefit him…
Anyway after a long and tearful phone call with my grandmother she and my grandfather agreed to come and speak to my father, luckily they only live two hours away from us and they left the house twenty minutes ago.

Help! Am I sabotaging my marketing career? I was doing an unpaid internship for the past 3 months, (I’ve previously done 2 other unpaid internships prior to this one). My boss has had me running Google ads, doing website quality checks, posting to clients’ socials, writing a blog here and there as well as getting my certifications done. I sit in on meetings with my boss and the clients and I take notes to observe and learn from client facing meetings. Now the three months is up and I was offered to be paid for things I have certificates for, like Google ads. However, I am still expected to sit in on a lot of meetings and do a lot of other things unpaid. So I will only be earning pay for maybe a third of my time. This was kind of a huge blow as I was looking forward to being paid honestly I am hurting financially and about to have to start paying my student loans. I am just very financially stressed, I haven’t been paid in well over a year since finishing school and doing these internships. I was told this internship had a job opportunity for me, it wasn’t expected but they offered, and now I am feeling discouraged because they told me I’d only be paid for some of the work and will still have to continue working for free on the majority of things and sitting in meetings - I was looking forward to getting a larger paycheck. I want to leave this internship and find something paid now that I have experience under my belt, but I also don’t want to shoot myself in the foot in the long term if I am throwing away a good learning opportunity.
Am I throwing away a good learning opportunity or should I apply to other entry level positions for money??

My skin looks flaky, but only when I wear makeup
Hello, I'm a 23F and, just like the title says, my skin gets flaky after I put in makeup. The areas in question are the skin where my nostril meets my cheek, my chin and sometimes the undereyes. My skin is dry, acne prone, but sometimes feels oily. I wash my skin before bed, as washing it in the morning leads to extremely dry, red patches to appear on my skin; I feel like I strip my face way too much if I wash it in the morning also, so I only use water when I wake up.
For skincare I use the La Roche Posay Lipikar cleanser, then the LRP Cicaplast Baume moisturiser; that one actually helped me remedy the patches. Sometimes I put the COSRX snail mucin if my skin is dull and lifeless, and I use the Ziaja Antioxidant Toner with Hylaruonic acid after the Lipikar cleanser.
In order it goes as follows: 0. Oil cleanser (only when I wear makeup) 1. LRP cleanser 2. Ziaja Toner 3. Snail mucin (only when my skin is dull, 1 or 2 times a week) 4. LRP cicaplast.
I'm still on the lookout for an SPF which does not clog my pores and cause acne. Maybe it would also be good to mention that my chin tends to flare up the most, usually due to my cycle(I will get those bad, painful cysts in the chin are right before I get my period)
The nose area is acne-free, I have tried using different primers, tried to make the ingredients match up, the same base ingredients but it does not help. All different kinds of concealer also, foundation I don't use as all of it looks terrible due to the flaking. Sometimes, around my eyes, the makeup literally starts peeling off.
Currently using the Bourjois Primer with vitamins, the red one, it helps a little but not too much.
If anyone who had experience with this could help, it would be appreciated.

Hope everyone’s doing awesome. I’m a 28 year old guy from the great state of Minnesota here in the US, and I’m looking to make some hopefully long-term chatting buddies. I do prefer someone ideally within the Midwest or MN/WI more specifically. But also open to anyone US based really. Just for time zone purposes and also the option of eventually meeting up if that’s in the cards! Anyways!
Here’s a little about me so you kinda sorta get an idea for who I am:

• Super laid back. Non-judgmental. You know how they say the ones who have kind of been through it are the most understanding? I think that kind of applies here.
  
• Starting to feel like an old man. I feel everything creaks, cracks, and feels sore for no reason. I also now have to take constant allergy meds from that developing. So yay.
  
• Big fan of metal music. Deathcore and metalcore are my favorites, but honestly anything remotely rock is cool. I love dad rock as well. So think Nickelback, Creed, Shinedown, etc hahah.
  
• I have tattoos, love tattoos, and love drawing artwork for tattoos. I’m an aspiring tattoo artist! Mine are all a little on the darker side thematically but I love all styles. I would love to see your art!
  
• I usually spend my free time working on my bike, car, or on the house. With a little movie watching and gaming sprinkled in. But between work and life it seems like it’s rare!

One mod I really like for Super Smash Bros. Brawl is one called Super Smash Bros Universe, which has 200+ characters and is quite a big mod, and crashes quite a lot. But I think I found a fix to that. I set my Wii’s aspect ratio to 4:3 and I’ve noticed it isn’t crashing as much as it was in 16:9. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve noticed it hardly crashes now. Also, the character select screen doesn’t lag as much as it did before. (It still does, but it’s a huge mod so that’s understandable)
Thought I’d share this to help anyone who may be having issues with large brawl mods, but like I said, I don’t know if it’s just me or if really works, so if this gets a lot of downvotes or is removed, I understand completely and apologise if this doesn’t work for everyone or make no difference. Let me know if this helps!

I've been dreaming of a place for several years, but my Mallworld is sometimes a mall, sometimes a college dorm, and sometimes a hotel with a restaurant in the lobby.
All of these places have elevators, but I am usually wandering down the long halls, past many doors, looking for a stairwell. Sometimes, I crawl through holes in the ceiling, up ladders, etc., to get to my destination/floor.
The script always follows the storyline that I am on my way to the airport. I am aware of the city blocks that surround Mallworld, and the way to the airport is always the same: dirty back alleys, leading to high roads held up by stilt-like poles, going almost straight up.
Then, the Airport. Sometimes more like a subway terminal. Sometimes a laundromat? The entrances to the "travel pods" are like front loading washing machines. I always anticipate a "squish" feeling (like Harry Potter describes Aparation), and come out in another place.
I'm glad to know there are others. These dreams are SO REAL to me. I always wake up feeling like I've come out of a part of another life.

I looked to see if this was ever brought up here and cannot find anything. The main author of the online documents was a very close family friend. He and my father grew up together. My mom and Larry's wife are still to this day very close. His son (born 1 day shy of one year before me) and I were inseparable for years until our teenage lives moved us apart.
I recall exactly where I was, as a 10 year old boy that loved everything about sci-fi and aliens, when I was told first hand this story.

This was just a week or two after they had the initial encounter and Larry was visibly shaken by the experience. Everything in this online doc is nearly identical to the story I was told and heard over and over again for many years.
I cannot describe how this absolutely changed Larry and his friend Mike that was there with him. They went kinda 'crazy' --- not unlike the people in the Close Encounters movie focusing solely on the shape of Devils Tower -- Both were locked in fully to "find out how this thing might work" and were truly certain they would get this patented and recreate this object.
Within a short while his marriage was ruined and Larry and Mike sort of faded from our main circle of people that were always around. When I would hang out with his son it was always more about how much money they would soon have and "just waiting on the patent to clear and get that first big check" etc.
It was a weird time and the subsequent stories I would hear about more encounters (the Mothership noted as the "second sighting" in the story) made me question the entire thing about how every time he would drive to the store he would see another object or something. I went from me being in total AWE of all of it to mostly Ho-Hum and unsure if any was true.
What I know is true is that Larry and Mike dropped EVERYTHING in their life to focus on this. By the end of his life I think he was fully alone.. I have not directly talked to his son in decades so I dont know where they stood before he died.
I have clear recall of being told about the teardrop/ice-cream cone shaped object with the 3 primary colors on its front pane. I recall being told that there was "some way to leverage the colors to bond the object to light and be pulled rather than propelled" or something like that. I grew up from a 10year to about 15 thinking that my friend was going to rich as his dad was making a real-life UFO for the government.

Yuck. Disgusting. If you ask me no team except ones dealing with unbearable dry heat should have a roof. And no team should be without grass.

There is nothing. No sound, no smells, no darkness. All that exists is a vast openness of white, a blinding, expansive non-existence, where all that remains is pure, unfiltered light. There is no corner of the vast openness where the light is absent, no room for darkness to hide, to escape the seemingly hungry emptiness.
Suddenly, the world glitches slightly. It is for less than a second, but a hint of gray slices through the sky, warping the world around it with the sound of static. But like everything else, the gray is devoured, blinking out of existence as white becomes the only color again.
The small glitch in the world, the spark of gray in blankness left something behind. Something reformed, floating there, alone in the emptiness. It was motionless, asleep, as still as the world around it. Then it awoke.
Memories instantly began to flood back, memories of fighting crime, of loving, of feeling loved. The figure remembered it all, including its name, Haxxalon the Star Archer.
Haxxalon opened his eyes, or at least he thinks he did, the whiteness so bright that darkness didn’t even take him while asleep. His first thought was that he must have been captured by a villain of some sort, a villain that destroyed earth, maybe destroyed the entire universe.The villain could possibly be searching for the star bow, a weapon powerful enough to fire stars into space. It wouldn’t be the first time a villain attacked him for it. Haxxalon would just need to figure out how the villain attacked earth and reverse it.
Haxxalon brought his arms up, trying to regain his sense of sight by focusing on something not white. The problem is, there is nothing. Haxxalon can feel his arms move, but he doesn’t see anything. Haxxalon screams, or at least the sound of screams comes out, as Haxxalon doesn’t feel his mouth move. A sudden feeling shivers down Haxxalon’s spine and he touches his face.
Nothing.
Haxxalon’s face is mere skin, there are no grooves, no holes: it’s all simply soft skin. Haxxalon feels his heart start to beat in his chest, the constant beat fighting against the oppressive silence of the world.
Then… something strange happens. For a split second, Haxxalon swears he sees a drop of blue for a second. A second later, he sees it again. Small sparks of blue electricity fly around and off of a circular object, an object that Haxxalon is sure is his arm. He doesn’t have electricity powers, and yet, that is certainly blue lightning.
Haxxalon barely has time to process that as between the beats of his heart, he hears something. It’s faint, and non-aggressive, conversational in tone. He can’t make out what the figures are saying, but he’s sure there is more than one. The noise is getting closer.
Haxxalon shifts his body, turning around slowly, ready to encounter whatever captured him.

Can’t Escape the Flows of Time

Ambush Bug paces back and forth across the dry grass, his strides large and fast. It has been ten minutes since the Doom Patrol passed out, and Irwin is still as unsure of what to do as he was when the team originally went unconscious.
On his pacing path, Irwin crosses over to Larry, and slightly pushes at him with his foot. Larry begins to tilt, the brown and green backside of his bandages, stained from the grass and dirt, begin to show themselves, as Irwin removes his foot. Larry’s body shifts back to his laying flat on his back.
Irwin sighs in defeat. That was his fourth time trying that, and the third person he tried it on. He’s not going to try it on Robotman, so it looks like he is out of luck.
Ambush Bug looks out at the horizon, the light blue sky, the large, everpresent sun. Retconn hasn’t arrived yet, and Irwin can’t quite tell if that is a good or bad thing. Maybe the six of them lost Retconn, or maybe the company is biding their time for a larger assault on the team.
Behind him, Irwin hears a groan. It’s deep, and yet, sounds like a voice that was autocorrected one too many times. Irwin turns around as other groans join the first, the team has woken up.
Being the first to awake, Cliff Steele, Robotman, is the first to rise from his position on the ground. Looking around, he asks, “What the everloving fuck just happened?”
Niles Caulder replies, “That’s an interesting question Cliff. To answer that though, we must make sure that we all had a similar experience.”
Rita, Elasti-Woman, responds, “I, I remembered everything. It was like a flood of memories unlocked. I still remember what was implanted, what Retconn wanted me to think my past was, but they seem more distant, but…”
Steven Dayton, Mento, continues, “It feels different, like a movie I saw just yesterday. Still burned into my mind with clarity, but not me.”
Rita nods and looks at Steven. For a moment their gazes lock, their hands slightly touching. Rita is the first to cut their gaze, and jerks her hand back. A sadness enters Steven’s eyes as he nods and looks forward.
Niles nods, “I had quite a similar experience.” Niles stills for a moment, his fingers gently stimming on the arm rests of the wheelchair. “It’s possible,” Niles slowly continues, his mind still working as the words exit his mouth, “It is possible that when our specific atoms reintegrated themself into their reality or origin, we essentially experienced a system wide reset, our minds regaining the memories that were originally wiped.”
“Uhm,” Irwin pipes up, “I’m not a scientist or anything, but from the little I understand about multiverse travel, that doesn’t make much sense.”
Niles sighs and stares down in thought. Picking his head back up, he says, “Until today, I thought of the multiverse as a purely theoretical concept, a mere thought experiment. In truth, there can be hundreds of different reasons for our memory recovery, and each one would be just as plausible as the last.”
The whole team is silent again, their thoughts on the insanity of what is happening. Between all of them is an air of uncertainty, and for some, an air of mourning, their memories telling a story that ended without them even being aware.
Larry, looking down, bitterly asks, “Where’s Arturo or Mallory when you need them.”
Silence once again overcomes the group, but only for a moment. Eyes widening, Larry doubletakes, “Did I just make a reference to Sliders? How the hell do I know what Sliders is, that wasn’t a show before Retconn appeared.”
Larry turns to look at Niles who guesses, “Maybe reality is trying to reconnect us to it through inserting popular culture and current events into our brain?”
Seeing unconvinced faces, Niles sighs, “I don’t know. Let’s just go with multiverse magic for now. That makes as much sense as anything else I’ve seen or learned in the past few days.”
For the first time since waking up, Cliff begins to speak, “Yea, real nice conversation, and maybe a different day I’d give two shits about it, but right now we are standing in the middle of nowhere, and I for one would like to get out of here.”
Upon hearing that, Niles smiles, “Now, that is one problem I do have an answer to.”
Looking out to the open expanse, Niles calls out, “Danny, old friend. This is Niles Caulder. I am in need of sanctuary.”
For a moment, nothing happens. The grassy land remains the same. Irwin and Cliff both look ready to make a comment, but stop due to Niles holding up a single finger.
Then, two large Public Access Speakers grow out of the ground, towering over the assembled team in size. From them, the song “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond is playing.
Buildings begin to rise from the dirt in front of the Doom Patrol, both small and large, these buildings grew out of nothing, seemingly not affecting the ground beneath it. At first, all are monochromatic white, but as the taller buildings begin to rise, color blossoms throughout the seemingly growing civilization.
The buildings are each unique and different, some looking more typical in design, others covered in expertly made graffiti, and some even looking like random buckets of paint were thrown haphazardly onto the walls.
Billboards are plentiful, advertising everything from makeup, to planned get togethers. One of the largest advertises a bar having a Drag event for later that week. Strangest of all was the empty billboards that seemed as plentiful, if not more so than the ones that had advertisements on them.
As the final buildings settle, people begin to rise from the ground, most of them mid-movement of conversation. It does not seem they even realize that they moved, and that is because they don’t; the action so invisible to them, that they don’t even acknowledge it.
Everyone seems happy and aware of their surroundings, although there is the occasional incident of knocking over each other due to conversation or looking at the phone. The reason for the air of happiness may be due to their clothing though. Reds and pinks make up the majority of the clothing, and even for those without, navy blue is more common than pure black, although the streets are not without darker colors entirely. A few people in the crowd look as if they shop exclusively at Hot Topic, and despite their clothing choices not meshing, many are conversing happily with someone else in brighter colors.
The last thing to appear is a sign right outside of the new residential area saying, “Welcome! You Are Accepted Here.”
Quietly, but not as quietly as he wanted, Cliff says, “What the fuck?”
Hearing Cliff, Larry quietly agrees with Cliff’s verbal thought.
Continuing to smile, Niles rolls over to the sign and says, “Danny, I must say thank you for coming in such a timely fashion. It is great seeing you again, have you expanded since the last time we met?”
The sign welcoming the team changes, the words, “Hello Niles. Where have you been? It’s been a long time.” appearing.
Niles nods, his smile becoming slightly strained, “Yes, it has been around 60 years, hasn’t it? The story is long and quite strange, but I promise I will tell it to you in its entirety. First, do you think you can get us a place to regroup?”
The words on the sign quickly change again to say, “Your house is still vacant, Niles. After all you did for me, keeping a place empty for you in case you ever returned was the least I could do.”
Niles nods. “Thank you,” he says, before gesturing for the rest of the team to follow.
The team walks through the street, no one around them giving them a second look of shock or fear. To the other people there, the Doom Patrol does not look an ounce out of place. If that’s assuring or worrying, well, Larry is not quite sure.
Finally breaking the silence of the group, Steven gasps, “A talking street is…” Steven stops himself, not wanting to call the new seemingly-sentient street he is on an it, but not knowing what else to call Danny.
Seemingly knowing why Steven stopped, Danny responds on one of the empty billboards, “You can use they/them when referring to me. I don’t necessarily mind being called other pronouns, but I’m not an it, or a thing, and I don’t feel any more masculine or feminine than I would imagine other cities or towns would feel if they were alive.”
Steven nods, but decides to address Danny directly, “You are obviously fully sentient, but does that mean you have a brain? What about other organs? How do you see?”
It takes a second longer than the last response did, Danny replies, “I am not quite sure. I see, but at the same time, I don’t see like how people have described seeing to me; it is more an echolocation than sight. I have energy impulses going throughout me at any moment, but if that is a brain, or if that is just the energy keeping me alive, I can not say. If I do have organs, they are so well hidden, that I do not even recognize them as such.”
Steven nods at the information as both Larry and Irwin open their mouths to ask a question. Cliff beats both of them to it though as he asks, “Do you have a bar?”
A white arrow appears on multiple billboards, pointing Cliff to a place called Danny’s Bar. Cliff gives a stiff, curt nod and walks away from the group towards it.
Larry is quick to follow, but Niles grabs his arm, whispering to him, “Cliff needs some time alone before he will appreciate your presence.”
Larry nods and continues to walk with the group.

Hours later, Larry walks into the bar, a fresh, clean, set of radiation-proof bandages on Larry’s body. The bar is huge, with a lot of people doing a myriad of things. Some are playing pool and billiards, others are singing karaoke, some are hanging out with friends, while others are trying to find someone to spend the night with. It didn’t take long for Larry to find Cliff though. Even in the dimmer light, Larry is able to see Cliff, the golden bronze contrasting with the rest of the bar.
Cliff is sitting at the bar, his metal face staring down at the dark wood. There is a beer in both of his hands, and a good dozen or so empty bottles scattered around him. He is silent, taking a large gulp from the beer in his right hand every ten seconds or so.
Larry walks over and gently places a hand on Cliff, unsure if Cliff will even feel the action. “It’s time to go.” Larry says.
Cliff shakes his head, “You can go, I’m staying here.”
Larry tries again, “The team needs you. We need to figure out how to- -”
Cliff slams his drinks against the table and looks up, his robotic eyes still not facing Larry, “What team? There is no fucking team. We had our lives stolen from us by a fucking TV network.”
Larry responds, “That’s why we need to stick together, we need to ensure Retconn can’t take us again.”
Taking a swig of the right beer, Cliff asks, “What if I want Retconn to capture me again?”
Larry is silent, unsure of how to respond. Cliff lets out a roboticized noise that sounds like a sigh. “I had a daughter.”
Cliff stops for a second, recollecting his thoughts. “I had a god damn daughter,” Cliff continues, “When she was born, when I saw her bright smile and innocent eyes, I swore to be a better dad than my own father. I would be in her life, make sure she knew she was loved. Then I left her.”
Larry softly tells Cliff, “It wasn’t your fault.”
Cliff lets out a roboticized laugh. “But it was. I got in a crash drinking while driving, and I woke up in the show with a robot body. Sure, Retconn kidnapped me, but if it wasn’t for Retconn, I’d be dead, I still would have left her.”
Larry says, “I’m sorry.”
Cliff shakes his head, so lost in thought that he doesn’t hear Larry, “It was almost better with Retconn. Sure, I wasn’t human, but I was a hero, I was Robotman, not the deadbeat dad Cliff Steele. I failed Clara, I failed the only thing that mattered to me.”
Cliff’s left metal fist grips the bottle so hard that it smashes in his hand. “The worst part is, for the hours I’ve been in here, I don’t feel any more tipsy than when I came in. I’m still sober, my mind is still functioning, I’m still remembering. This body can’t get fucking drunk, and I hate it.”
Cliff places down his right beer, and lets out a robotic, metallic sigh. “I’m tired,” Cliff finally relents, “Maybe I can get buzzed with enough persistence, but it isn’t happening tonight. I’ll meet you back at Niles’ house, Larry.”
Cliff walks out of the bar, his stride slow and methodical. Larry sits there for a moment stunned. Larry debates buying a drink, but remembers the bandages wrapped around his skin make doing so impossible. Instead he just sits there for a moment. Larry begins to watch, the four women singing off key in the corner, the guy trying to do a cool darts trick to impress his girlfriend, two guys kissing.
Larry’s skin begins to curl as he watches the sight, his head pounding. He needs to get out of there now. It’s clumsy at best, but Larry begins making his way to the door, struggling to not focus on the memories attempting to resurface. He ends up knocking into a chair, and not even seeing who is there, mumbles out a “Sorry” as he continues to move. He needs fresh air, he craves it. Finally the doors to the bar close behind him, and Larry collapses on the front steps, memories forcing their way to the front of Larry’s mind.

Larry stood in front of the door to his house, his body frozen solid. For a moment, he thought he couldn’t do it, he thought about running away, running away from the screaming, the crying, the cursing, and the occasional slapping. He’s endured it for over a month now, and it hasn’t lessened, he isn’t sure how much more he can endure.
He wanted to scream that it isn’t his fault, that’s it’s not his fault God made him wrong, broken. He doesn’t though. He only ever said something like that once and it led to his father punching him, not slapping him or spanking him, but straight up punching him. Since then, Larry had made sure to repeat what his parents told him. It wasn’t God that made him wrong: Satan was the one to give Larry temptation, and Larry was the one to sin by kissing that boy under the bleachers.
Larry opened the front door, cringing at the noise of rusted metal. There was no chance he could get by his mother without more screaming and crying.
But the screams never began. Instead his mom ran up to him and held Larry in her arms, tears running down her face.
Startled, but not necessarily disliking this change in behavior, Larry asked, “Mom, what happened?”
Larry’s mom responded through sobs, “I-I went to the pastor today and told him about you. Larry, he said he can help you. He told me there is a special summer camp he runs that can help fix people like you, Larry…a camp that can bring kids back to the path of God.”

Larry is broken out of memory as the door behind him swings open. A darker skin gentleman with stubble walks out holding a glass of water. The man is wearing a light pink shirt that greatly contrasts with his brown eyes and black hair. Walking down the step, the gentleman sits down next to Larry.
The two sit in silence for a minute, until the man says, “I saw you getting out of there fast. It was my chair you knocked into.”
Larry opens his mouth to respond, but the man beats him to it, “Honestly, it’s fine. Just thought you may need something to drink.”
The man holds up the glass of water, but Larry shakes his head, “I can’t really take off the bandages, but thank you anyway.”
The man gives a curious look, “Is it like plastic surgery or something?”
Larry nods, not really wanting to go into it, “Something like that.”
The two sit in silence for a moment. Letting out a sigh, Larry says, “Listen, I’m sorry, it’s just- -”
The man cuts Larry off, “Something inside messed with you. You don’t have to explain.”
Taking a sip of water, the man continues, “Danny picked all us strays up because the world doesn’t want us. Here, the past is healed and mended, for us to be what we want, and live how we want.”
Larry replies solemnly, “That sounds nice.”
The man nods, “Don’t sweat your reaction today. Healing takes time, and no one is going to fault you if you accidentally bump into a chair on the way to progress.”
Larry is silent, conflicted. On one hand, the idea of being accepted is nice, on the other, well, what if Retconn was punishment for his sin? What if his family was right, what if he doesn’t deserve to be healed?
Standing, Larry says, “Thank you- -” Larry stops, realizing he doesn’t know the man’s name.
The man rises with a smile, “My name is Morris Mingo.” Morris holds out his name for Larry to shake.
Larry shakes the man’s hand, “Larry Trainor.”
“Well Larry,” Morris says, “I hope to see you again, hopefully under better circumstances next time.”

Back at the Nile’s house, or better to say mansion, Rita and Steven are staring at two doors, each going to separate rooms.
Their hands are intertwined unconsciously, their bodies filled with uncertainty. Rita is the first to talk, “I’m sorry. I know we’ve been married for so long, but it just feels…”
Rita doesn’t finish the sentence, not wanting to make the words feel more real by their exiting of the tongue. Instead it is Steven that ends the sentence, “Like everything changed.”
Comfortable silence permeates the room as the two turn to look at each other. “I still love you.” Steven says, his voice almost a whisper.
Tears threaten Rita’s eyes as she responds, “I love you too.”
For both of them, the desire to kiss the other is strong, but both resist. “How about,” Steven suggests, “We start from square one? Build back up to what we once had, that way the new us can get to know each other.”
Rita gives a light smile, “Are you asking me on a date, Mr. Dayton?” she asks in a joking, yet sincere, tone.
“I believe I am. Ms. Farr.” Steven responds in the exact same tone.
Rita’s smile brightens, “Then, I accept.”
A joyish feeling washes over both of them as they go to sleep. They almost don’t recognize the fact that this will be the first time they are sleeping alone in over sixty years as they drift off to sleep.

Niles is sitting in his living room parler alone with Irwin. Rita and Steven went up to rest, while Cliff and Larry still haven’t returned to the house.
The two are watching the news, as Niles scribbles on a pad of paper. Irwin asks, “What are you writing?”
Niles stops his scribbling for a moment as he responds, “I am attempting to create a timeline of current events through the news and any books Danny has in order to tell if there are any gaps in the new memories I have.”
“Already?” Irwin asks, “I would think you would be busy processing your memories, not immediately analyzing them for falsehoods. If I learned about my past, first thing I would do is try to connect with it.”
Niles waves Irwin off, “I’ve processed enough. I can’t dilly dally with reminiscing. Retconn could arrive any second, and I refuse to be caught unaware.”
Irwin thinks for a minute, before getting up. Seeing Niles look at him curiously, Irwin explains, “I’m getting a piece of paper myself. Two people trying to understand current events should hopefully make the deciphering process faster.”
Irwin walks away in order to grab paper and a pen, hoping that the help will make Niles’ stress lessen.

Almost every time it goes like this: I meet someone online. We have things in common and become friends. For a few weeks, or months, we have great fun and get emotionally close.
Then when I consider it a close friendship, regardless of how much fun we had or how much I've been there for them during hard times, they leave.
They suddenly leave me for no reason that I can know of. Either by blocking me, unfriending me, or just never replying to my texts anymore even though they are often online.
What pisses me off more is the lies. Don't tell me "oh sorry ive been busy" because if i see you change your profile picture like 10 times in a week, and you constantly show as online, then I know your not busy.
What pisses me off even more is the promises that get broken. Im gonna leave it at one example here: I was talking to a close friend about friends that left me in the past and how she was probably going to leave me too because thats the logical pattern to assume. She assured me "I will always be here for you, whether you like it or not, I promise" and guess what, weeks later I got fucking BLOCKED with no explanation
Now, after so many people hurting my feelings, breaking their promises and doing other shit, I turned into a dry person, I don't care about others as much anymore as I used to do. I'm getting more selfish and these days I spend more time being alone, even though that makes me lonely. I don't want to deal with bulshit anymore

As some of you may have noticed - numerous subreddits have announced they will be 'going dark ' on June 12 for 48 hours, some subreddits are taking it a step further and staying dark indefinitely. /DungeonsAndDragons will be joining those subreddits.

Whats Going on?

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal, to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

What can you do as a user?

• Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
• Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /ModCoord.
• Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
• Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

I know as a community we will rally around this cause and support it until we see a reasonable resolution.

I joined the Marine Corps straight out of high school. Life goal for me, was all I ever wanted. Looking back now I probably should have thought bigger, but hey who can say they fulfilled their lives dream at 18 years old. I went to Paris Island in the dead of summer so it was hot and muggy. It was my home for the next three months.
Anyone who has been there knows it is not the best place to be. always running back and forth getting chewed out left and right, all in the hopes of making you worth something. Looking back at it now I still wouldn't change a thing. I got there around 140 pounds and left 170. mainly because my senior Drill Instructor couldn't tell the difference between Garcia, and Gonzales so I got his push ups whenever he was at medical or dental.
The time of day that was the most cherished was night. we would all lay in our rack think/fear of the day ahead and go to sleep. Now if you served in any branch of service you know about fire watch. for those who don't instead of sleeping the whole night certain people on a rotating roster will take a shift walking around the squad bay and recording any irregularities. most people hated it. I only enjoyed it when I had either first or last shift so I would have uninterrupted sleep. so we were issued rifles and every night we would have to secure them with a lock and chain. I don't know how it happened guess I forgot but I somehow managed to not secure my rifle. The recruit who on fire watch was Recruit Johnson (fake name) and instead of waking me up and saying. "Hey man your rifle isn't secure you might want to fix that." he decided to wake up the drill instructor on duty and got me to take his shift of fire watch that night and he got to go back to sleep.
So I was upset I wasn't on the schedule to have fire watch that night now I would have it like 3 nights in a row. I wanted to get back at Johnson but didn't know how. Until I started Sorting out the laundry. one of the things fire watch would do through out the night was everyone's laundry and roll the skivvies shirts and socks into a grunt roll and place them on each recruits locker. once we wake up we would place them in the locker and get ready for another day in paradise. now Recruit Johnson was tall probably one of the tallest in the platoon. that night and every night I had fire watch i personally made sure all his grunt rolls had size small shirts and skivvy shorts. every night before free time we would have to report that we have no injuries or problems to report while spinning in place to show any wounds while in our skivvies. and almost every night Recruit Johnson was wearing clothes that were way too small. he would always complain in free time saying "Why do I keep getting Small clothes?" and everyone would laugh. Me most of all. Its one of my most favorite stories from boot camp and I thought yall might like to read it.

We know that when a high energy gamma ray(E >= 1022 keV because the energy of 1 electron and 1 positron is 511 keV) passes near a high Z(atomic weight) atomic nucleus interacts with the electrical field of the nucleus and there is a probability that this high energetic gamma-ray will create positron and electron pairs in order to conserve the linear momentum.

IDK if the question even make sense, for context i'm 25 years old, currently making 24k a year, 450k invested, and my expenses 750-1000 USD a month, home owner, for reference in my country you get taxed 10% of all income (not including stock apreciation or reinvested dividends) after 12k a year.
Right now i've 150k worth of btc (i plan to hold and not but anymore) and 300k tax free cash for selling btc, i want to invest those 300k in stocks or reits to generate enough reliable income for quitting my job that is making me lose my peace and mental health, what kind of portfolio with 300k gives me at least 750usd a month mathematically guaranted (yes i know it's impossible 100%) and keeps growing in value with time faster than inflation.
I wouldn't retire enterily i want to persue the dream of be a science Youtube, in fact i already earn like 100usd a month, i want to dedicated full time to the proyect, i know it's no guaranted to live off Youtube but it's worth trying.... I could potentially come back to my old job later but i really rather not.

I, (20yr) Female, and my boyfriend (20yr) Male, have been dating for 6 years and i have frankly grown tired of our relationship. I can admit i have commitment issues and have worked on them and most of my decisions to break up have been reasonable. Issues with the george floyd situation, issues with our mental being, issues with stability and a future together. We always ended up back together, we are opposites with minor similarities. Over the years his OCD and severe anxiety has worsened and i am guilted take in all of it. There have been numerous occasions that i would be gentle and patient with him about how his thoughts would not make sense in a realistic mind and would explain in full detail with proof on how that whatever scenario in his mind was playing was not possible at all. He would invalidate all of these with questions that would not make sense. Recently i moved in to a new place and I’m on the top floor which eases my anxiety of break ins. I don’t live in a bad area but its better safe than sorry. I brace the door every-time I’m here alone and do rounds to ensure I’m alone and secure. One night he was sleeping over he previously heard i squeak that i did not and he asked if it was my door and i said that the door was locked and braced, i had checked it four times that night and i can see from my bedroom if the door is being opened no matter how in my phone i am. He asks what if someone was here already and left and put the brace up. Now does that make sense to anyone? How does one lock and brace a door on the inside from the outside? I said exactly that but he countered with what if u were hypnotized to forget and put the brace up after they already SA’d you. I am proud of myself to make it here and no one can take that from me. Living there terrified me of the idea of being kicked out again but i was ready it just hurt more because my boyfriend would display our personal arguments to his family leading them to take his side as i wanted to remain private and quiet. I was even guilted by his mother for not picking up the phone during my classes because he apparently had a breakdown because of it leaving them to deal with it. I wanted to leave the moment she said that but i was thinking strategically and decided to stay but actively look for places to leave. That same night he said to me “i give you everything shelter, food, and rides and you dont even want to listen to my concerns?!” It hurt me. Deeply. I never wanted to be there and had never asked to. Why was i being seen that way? I never asked for rides to work, he wouldnt give me the option to do otherwise. I even filled the tank out of guilt and offered to buy my own groceries. Forgot to mention, my boyfriend also is obsessed with a past small incident with a weird man in a hotel lobby that i was staying at. I was not able to enjoy time alone from then on. Without being called 7 times by my boyfriend because he heard a weird sound on the first call and wanted to stay on the phone for an hour to talk about his theories of my SA experience. While my friends were bothered by him calling for himself and burdening me with it when im just trying to enjoy some time out. I can’t randomly send old pics of us because he thinks someone else sent them even though i said i just wanted to remind u of it. I cant take a phone call from my insurance alone because he wants to make sure its not a guy im talking to. I cant express my feelings to my friends about relationship issues because it’ll ruin their image of him and he will feel insecure. I cant break up with him or i will look like a user because even though i didnt want their help his parents believe that i am using him for a house and food. My friends and therapist have told me that im doing it to myself at this point but i just dont know how to leave him. I love him truly but his issues are not within my capabilities to help. I was not raised the best to handle these emotions but i try to be comforting for him and its hard to not get annoyed at the same questions over and over again. Oh and you dont get a break during it either. You need 15 minutes alone to think? No he will sit there and talk to you. You need a night to sleep on it? No you need a breather and to just take a second? No youre running away from your issues and making it worse youre whats bad. I don’t understand what i did. But i know i did nothing wrong. And if i did then i take full responsibility. I have been stressed for 19 years and just want to enjoy my new beginning and ever since ive moved out his family have shown how much they didnt want me there and ive noticed. His mom not eating dinner because i made it, his family going out to eat and cooking dinners only on nights that i work later, being included in things last. His sister has a boyfriend who in my opinion is… odd but hes golden to everyone. And he isnt treated the way i am. I help set up parties for them. No pictures of me in them are included in the post, i try to get them presents they are set aside and unused. They do not personally wanna talk to me but go out with his sister’s boyfriend and willingly start the conversation. They only talk up for him but i only get criticism. I have a good sense in people and it has never failed me. I knew they didnt like me and i knew my boyfriend would not stand up for me. Am i the asshole for just wanting some peace in my life after dealing with so much from others lives?

Like they don't mind showing their natural asses. I started a job recently and was texting a guy who was also going to be my coworker. I wasn't even the one who reached out. He had no idea what I looked like but when he found out during orientation he started acting like a jackass.

There's a guy I sat across at the same table. This guy reaches across me (as if we never talked or knew me) and shakes the other guys hand and then goes back to his table. To double the disrespect, he waits till the end of the day, now that everyone was gone, to finally say hello at least.

He started being weird and so I removed him entirely. The dude isn't even that good-looking tbh. It's tripping me out how guys act when their male ways get in the way tbh.

My other male project leads overseers are funny too. Act like they can barely look at me MEANWHILE, they are just as average, overweight, patchy beards, slack jaws etc etc.

Then the next thing I know my partner on my internship project is also ignoring me because he's "friends" with the jackass I was talking to before our job started. So now he has something (I guess my looks) against me.

I talk to a girl at our job but not often cause she's not even from the same project group.

I've had guys call me fugly meanwhile they had unibrows, were short, bumpy skin.

I also remember talking to this one autistic guy and this one was supposed to be romantic. He was NOT a looker at all. LIKE AT ALL. I showed a picture of myself and he immediately went , "you're cute" and started dry texting.

The last guy I dated looked like MOMO . His hair was thin and sleek, oily looking. He had those dark circled eyes and his personality was TERRIBLE. Yet from the day we got together to the day we broke up, he tore my looks completely DOWN. I mean just ripped to shreds. The audacity.

People always make it seem like women aren't telling the truth when it comes to looks and men but we are. An ugly man is 10x more likely to be an asshole than a less attractive woman. Subjecting yourself to many of them is suicide.

I did a fun activity where I looked at couples and realized that the woman is 5x more attractive than her husband or boyfriend.
I also sat at a restaurant recently and there was this fat old man sitting at a dinner table with some women and men. He started talking about how he was sad at a vacation once because the girls he wanted were ignoring him and then moaned how one ugly girl had offended him (it didn't even sound terrible) and no one check him. I was just like...wow!!
