Now I’m down two people hand had to replace 1. It’s been really frustrating leading up to our wedding in October with all this drama. We expected to get married in 2020, but obviously we weren’t able to due to COVID.
During that time, one of my bffs who is from Germany, has completely ghosted me. I have no idea why, the last conversation we had was about her that her grandma had recovered from cancer. Then in 2021, she stopped talking to me completely. She quit social media in 2019 so I haven’t seen anything about her since. I know she’s alive because she works at a dance school and they post about her, but she just randomly cut me out of her life. It’s been painful to say the least. She’s been replaced by my friend from college who I’ve become closer to in the last 2 years. She’s been helping me with decor prep and I’m going to surprise her soon with a bridesmaid box.
I don’t have any cousins where I live, but I asked my cousin in Mexico in 2019 if she would be in my wedding. She would be my only family in my wedding party. Unfortunately it’s been an extremely long process getting her visa to come to the states and my family is pretty sure she won’t get it in time. It’s been heart breaking that it takes so long to approve these things and I’m preparing for her not to be here.
And yet again I’m being ghosted by one of my friends who lives here. I’ve texted her multiple times wishing her a happy birthday and asking for her parents’ address for invites but haven’t heard back from her in over a month. At this point I’m probably going to cut her out. She RSVP’d yes to our wedding but that’s it. She does have a 2 year old now, which I expect takes up a lot of her time, but I’m not asking for very much from my bridesmaids since my MOH and other best friend are out of state.
I think I’m more frustrated and heartbroken than anything. I don’t really want to replace anyone, but it’s about to feel a little lopsided compared to my husband. I’m really asking the bare minimum from my friends. No bridal shower, I’m paying for the bachelorette party that will be days before the wedding (taking them to Disneyland because I get free passes and discounts through work), and I’m having them rent their dresses. I guess this is more of a rant than anything.

The amount of “Fuck Netflix” posts I’ve seen since they got rid of password sharing in the US is wild to me.
They’re a business that provides a service. All they’re doing is saying is if you’d like to use that service you need to pay for it. This is how everything else on the planet works.
I understand mild annoyance at the inconvenience of it all, but “fuck you for charging me for something I use” is so childish.
If the 200 bucks a year or whatever it costs now too much for you, there are plenty of ways to get whatever is in their catalog streamed to your devices on Al Gore’s internet.

I am honestly amazed at how many people don't know they exist but then again, the CC companies don't want you saving money.
This post is a copy from a post I made a few months ago but I just paid off like $14k in CC debt in a year and much of the balance was 0% interest due to introductory periods with new cards and balance transfer cards. I would be drowning without them.
I had a card with a $5000 balance at 22% apr and the interest was around $100 a month with the minimum payment being $150ish with roughly $50 going towards the balance...you can see the interest you're paying in your statements. I transfered the balance to "balance transfer card" for a one time fee of $120 to and I got 18 months of 0% interest. After that it's 24% apr.
Credit karma helped me identify 0% Interest cards aka balance transfer that I would likely get approved for. It is usually for 12-18 months of no interest. There is a one time balance transfer fee usually like 3%. It is an introductory thing so after the 18 months the card likely has no benefits (no cash back). I'm currently taking the extra $100 I'm saving from not paying interest to make double payments on a different card with 4k debt and 19% interest.
Keep in mind I never missed a payment EVER and had a 690 for my first balance transfer card and a 640 when I opened my 2nd. (discover and citi). However I had around $19k credit card debt
To further explain....My $5000 cc debt at 22% had minimum payment was like $150. $100 of that was interest, $50 towards the balance. So let's assume I still pay $150 on the new balance transfer card at 0% apr for the 18 months... That would be $2700 in payments minus the $120 one time fee over 18 months. So $2580 will have been knocked off the original $5000 debt. After 18 months at 0% the balance would be $2420 at 25.99%... Assuming monthly payments stay the same at $150 that would only be around $500 in interest over 20 months. Compared to $2500 if I kept the original.
If I did nothing and kept the original card, I would hit $500 in interest in 5 months with 5k at 22%. If I stayed at minimum payments on my original $5k 22% card I would pay $2610 in interest and it would take over 51 months to pay off. So $2610 vs $620. Saving 2 grand by making the same minium payment amount on the balance transfer card.
TL;DR a balance transfer credit card is meant to help you avoid high interest debt. It has 0% interest for 18 months. You can probably get one if your score is over 600. Do it.

Hello, I have a quick question about the long-term use of liquid paraffin as a stool-softener.
The past: I used to administer ~2ml medicinal paraffin and psyllium husks mixed with water in his wet food (the only way he will take it) once or twice daily. That would mostly do the trick but about once every month I had to resort to a glycerin suppository for babies (which was recommended by my vet) and abdominal massages to break up the stool.
The present: What I do nowadays is feed him a diet high in fiber combined with frequent massages and I have stopped the daily paraffin and psyllium.
Sometimes (2-3 times a month) I feel a stool build-up which lasts more than 2 days and in that case I give him a higher dose of paraffin (1 tablespoon) in his wet food. After 1-2 meals 90% of the time this will clear his intestine. I haven't had to give him a suppository for months now using this method. This method seems rather successful and my cat shows absolutely no signs of discomfort except for when he is slightly constipated.
With this modified method my cat seems to be doing much better, thriving even compared to how he was before.
My cat will have to remain on some sort of laxative or stool softener for the rest of his life and I'm just worried if the paraffin oil causes any problems in the long-term.
My question is: Does giving him paraffin oil the way I am doing it now (3 times a month for 1-2 days maximum but in a higher dosage than the recommended 2ml) have any long-term side effects?

I have a job that honestly does just look like an easy WFH "email job" from the outside. And I've been arguing with it about my boyfriend, he hates when I complain about my job being hard when it looks easier than his.
But it's stressful mentally - I'm a technical program manager, on robotics engineering projects.
I basically handle 3 way conflicts between 1. clients who always want extra work that you didn't agree to when signing the contract (but they are paying y'all an absolute fuckton and you want them to continue) 2. engineers with only so many hours in a day (8 max on my team) 3. executives at my own company who try to make my projects' work also fit their own goals. Which change wildly after every quarterly financial report. (But they pay me)
And on top of all that I have to be a technical expert on "AI" enabled robotics to lead and plan the engineering side of things. Ok enough at public speaking to present it to executives or investors. Able to keep a straight face when a supposedly "genius" CEO asks how much the software update increases the robot's weight. And people's jobs depend on all that?
Like I'm not trying to act all self sacrificing, I'm just a fuckin anxious person lol.
So.. because of all that stress, I want to make my work environment as calming possible. But this led to issues when my boyfriend came to stay with me for a few weeks in the middle of moving apartments. He'd see me having very chill looking days when he was working from home too, coding, at his desk and working late.
Like I'd be sending emails while laying in my hammock outside, or on the phone with a guy shooting the shit for a while. Or reading a textbook in the garden. While he'd be at his desk all day.
Not seeing that gossiping with executives is how you get leads on new work. And that email? Having to find a polite way to tell a guy that the engineers think his idea is not technically possible, and also dumb as fuck, and I agreed with them, knowing he's signing multimillion dollar contacts with your employer every year.
My boyfriend started getting frustrated with me since I complain more than him about work, and for the first time he was actually seeing it. And it looked like I was doing fuckall. And since then, whenever I have a genuinely stressful day at work, he makes jokes like "oh no did you have to get out of the hammock?"
It really started to get me mad because I was dealing with a hard social situation and he started making fun of me for always having so much "drama" and "is this a job or gossip girl" and I just blew up at him for making fun of me, over and over when I was actually struggling with something. 1. Is FF7 Remake actually a sequel? I've been seeing people say all the time that FF7 remake is actually a sequel to the original FF7, and that you need to play the original to understand much of Remake. But I've - at least, so far - been able to follow the entire story perfectly. And anything I didn't understand (like the Whispers, or Sephiroth's motives), I get the feeling that they're meant to be mysterious. I watched the first part of the original FF7 game to confirm my suspicions, and it was basically the same as Remake with only a few differences, so how could it possibly be a sequel?
2. Is the Remake trilogy going to ultimately just be a retelling of the original story, just vastly extended into 3 games? Or is FF7 Remake simply a remake/"requel" of the original game, while parts 2 and 3 will be standalone games, or remake events from other media like the film/ova?
3. If parts 2 and 3 won't contain content from the original, does that mean I can play Crisis Core: Reunion once I finish Remake? Or, should I wait for parts 2 & 3 to drop before I go and play Crisis Core: Reunion?

^{(For the record, I'm just generally not fond of older games, especially games of the N64/PS1 era. Even ones that are famously amazing. So right now my LI situation for this season is not great to say the least, I'm only interested in Bella and you probably know how great her route's going 😂 anyways so because of that I started to daydream mostly about a new LI coming in that is exactly the kind of LI I want but what stuck out to me the most is when I thought of a route idea for ivy's previous partner(Ryan in my playthrough).
The idea goes like this, with ivy gone Ryan has nothing to look forward to in the Villa so he decides to become your friend and makes it his goal to set you up with your "the one" aka the guy/girl that fits you the most. he talks to you often, asking about which already existing/new islander you feel the most attracted towards and then he gets to work on helping you get with them during this process he unintentionally gets into some really cute interactions with you and as a result you both grow closer together. he comes to your defense everytime someone is being awful towards you and he even succeeds a few times in set you up with someone you like but ultimately you break up eachtime and Ryan gets back on his mission with the thought that " well Ig they weren't the the one for you" not even considering the possibility that the one for you might be him or maybe he does but is to afraid to give that thought a try.
Anyways after casa you're at a threat of getting eliminated because your partner couples up with someone else, Ryan not wanting to see you go home couples up with you, Saving you from being eliminated. Ryan at this point in the season had already developed feelings for you even before casa but never built up enough courage to confess them to you but now with you both coupled up it's way harder for him hide his feelings towards you so he finally confesses to you. It's now up to you if you want to reciprocate his feelings and become a legit Romantic couple or don't and stay a friendship couple.
I personally would really love to see this,I know it's pretty much impossible for FB actually do this but still it's fun to think about it happening.

I am in California, seeking divorce court advice in the Solano county area for my step father. My mom initiated divorce from him ~7 years ago. Her lawyer is a shark. His lawyer fumbles, doesn’t fight, is unprepared and unorganized. Only one week before the trial begins and my step dad had to plead for face time with his lawyer to prepare for the trial. So they’ve had 4, 30minute zoom meetings in which is lawyer talks a big talk about what he will get done and then ends the call in 15 minutes.
Lawyer issues aside, my step father has a solid case. A case I will be testifying to support. Wife is on disability as of 2 years into the divorce yet alimony hasn’t been adjusted to reflect this change in income. Additionally, wife has a successful under the table business and financial records, photos, and witness testimony to prove it.
Community property my step dad ran his business out of was sold a few years ago and wife was awarded 95% of the sale, even though her lawyer was only asking for about half of it. The judge has been unjust and sides with wives lawyer, 100% of the time, while step fathers lawyer fails to argue or show proof as to why it should not go in her favor.
Step dad is over retirement age but continues to work now out of his home to make ends meet and continue doing what he loves. Wife’s lawyer is asking for 200k which would require him to sell our home and he’d be left with nothing: no place to live or run his business out of since he was forced to sell the prior business property. He will not have enough funds to purchase a new home. He’s too old to start over, and makes less than my mothers current, under the table income.
Our case is set up to prove to the judge that my mom does have an income so committed fraud to the courts by claiming otherwise. Financial records shes submitted shows her income, but somehow she’s gotten away with only providing a few of her financial records, not all that were subpoenaed. The propetizer shows he only owes her 25% of what her lawyer demands she get. They have been unable to settle as my mom “wants it all”.
Trial begins in a week. I’m pleading for help from a law student or lawyer who can give any legal advice on strategy and supporting case law- or any other help as to how we can argue his claims against her while being mindful of the judges relationship to her lawyer (they are friends).
I’ve used chat GPT and everything points to this is a win win for him. He can pay her the 25% of what more she’s asking for, no further alimony, and be done with it. But I am scared for him and his future, as the decision is in the hands of a biased judge and the facts are in the hands of a bumbling idiot (lawyer), being refuted by a shark (her lawyer).

I apologize if this has been asked before.
The Airbnb I just rented is charging $225 for a cleaning fee on top of the nightly rate, taxes, and service fee. How much does the host realistically expect me to clean after charging this much? I don’t mind paying the fee and there is almost no chance I trash the place, but for this much money I expect to not need to touch a broom, wash gently used plates/cups, make a bed, clean up bathroom, etc.

From everything I have heard, the artificer DOES keep up at higher levels, but just looking at the math, I can't figure out how. I'm playing a level 8 artillerist, and it seems like when a wizard would be getting the ability to tear about reality, I'll be getting the abilities they got 8 levels ago. And infusions are nice but don't really come up THAT much. I geuss a lot of the power might come from the ability to grant half cover?
What does the artificer get that keeps it up to par at higher levels?

First off I want to say that I am not an alcoholic, I haven't touched a drop for 5 years. This is about my father. He was an alcoholic for my entire life and I saw it first hand destroy his life. He had to eventually give up jobs, he was a very good professional waiter at a yacht club and he had to quit because his hands shook too much. He was unemployable from that moment on. He tried to get help, spent some time in a mental hospital and started going to meetings. I would call semi-frequent and he was always slurring his words and would tell me how much of a hypocrite he felt like when he would go to AA meetings then come home and drink. I eventually stopped calling, our only contact was Facebook messenger. At one point I was struggling and was moving around a lot, he told me that I was always welcome at home with him, I left for Michigan instead. A few weeks later my sister called to tell me the news. My dad was drunk and slipped in the shower hitting his head, he was found by a neighbor a few days later and died in the hospital.
I miss my dad, but I miss the healthier him. The dad who took us to the fair every year, the man who always engouraged me to chase my dreams.
Another story I wanted to share is an ex-girlfriend. She was also an alcoholic and one day she went to karaoke, had her normal two doubles and left. She ended up going the wrong way on the highway and ended up hitting someone. She was terribly injured, and in the other car there was another terrible injury, and a death. She was charged with vehicular homicide and sentenced to 14 years, leaving two broken families in her wake, her own two kids without a mother and the other family mourning the loss of a loved one.
Thank you for reading, I don't tell a lot of people these stories but I feels good to get them out, and I want to encourage each and every one of you struggling with alcoholism to keep fighting. Every day you don't drink is a blessing.

Hi all, I was diagnosed with ADHD last September privately through Clinical partners. Prior to starting titration I had to get my bloods and BP done and I went to my GP (in Cardiff) for it. Before they let me get them done they had my diagnosis referred and checked by an NHS psychiatrist and allowed me to get the checks done at the GP. They said that they would be happy to take over prescribing once I finished titration and had regular communication regarding any medication changes etc from my psychiatrist.
Well 8 months and what feels like 1000s of trials later I’ve finally found the medications that work for me. My psychiatrist sent over a shared care agreement to my GP to sign and they posed this agreement to me with the words « private work not NHS » which I’m assuming means they won’t do it.
This is a massive issue as the only reason I began titration was because my GP explicitly stated that they would be happy to take over prescribing after titration. I am a student with no private insurance spending a majority of my small pay check for appointments and medications in hopes that I can function bette make my life easier and the only thing getting me through the financial hit was the fact that after titration I don’t have to bear the financial burden of medication.
My private psychiatrist has sent them regular updates regarding my titration as requested over the last 7 months to keep them fully updated which I have been sent copies of as well. I have multiple emails sent to me through my GP practice where there they write that they are happy to prescribe back in September and in general appointments for other health issues have talked about how my titration is going with me.
I feel blindsided and this is in the middle of exam season for me and is affecting me a lot. I guess I took for granted that they would do it for me and I feel so stupid that I’m out 1000s to find something that helps me but I’m not going to be able to afford it much longer. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can do.
